Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 92. Herman Sorensen Hvam, 29 years old marries Marie Kirstine Hansdatter, 25 years, both of Vindum parish. They are married September 14, 1822. Witnesses were Thomas Birch and Niels Westergaard of Vindum.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 44. Soren is born June 23, 1823. Witnesses are Kirstine Pedersdatter, Peder Pedersen, Hans Nielsen, Christen Winkelgaard, and Anders Christensen all of Vindum.
Birth, Vindum parish register, page 52. Laust Hermansen is born June 19, 1826. Witnesses were Christen Sorensen and Ane Marie Sorensdatter, Christen Hvam, Anders ?, and Jens Rasmussen.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 4. Gjedske Hermansen is born November 17, 1828 and christened December 21 at the church. Witnesses were Kjerstine Marie Nielsdatter, Christen Nielsen, Herman Nielsen, Christen Nielsen, and Christen ?.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 243. Laust Hermansen passes away July 10, 1829. He is entry #4 in the year. He is buried July 15 and was three years old.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 52. Laust Hermansen is born April 12, 1831. He is christened May 12 in the church. He shares the same name as his older brother who preceded him in death. Witnesses are Kjerstine Marie Pedersdatter, Christen Neilsen, Anders ?, Herman Nielsen and Soren Nielsen all of Vindum.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 245. One month after the birth of their fourth child, their eldest Soren Hermansen dies May 26, 1831 and is buried May 29. He was 7 years old and 11 months, his birthday being in June.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 247. Laust Hermansen passes away on May 12, 1833 and is buried May 16. He is listed as being 2 years and 1 month old.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 246. Gjedske Hermansen, the last living child of Herman and Marie Kirstine, dies 4 days after her brother Laust on May 16, 1833. No cause of death is listed but I imagine there was some contagion given the proximity of her brothers death.

1845 Vindum parish census, page 15. In the 1834 census (not shown) Herman (39) and Marie Kirstine (37) are living in the same home as Gjedske Hermansdatter, a widow aged 67 and Herman's mother. Also living with them are his brother Peder Sorensen Hvam, age 30, and his wife Magdalene Lauritzdatter, age 28, and their 1 child Soren Pedersen, age 1. In the 1840 census (not shown) Herman is 46, Marie Kirstine is 43. They have a "Plejeson" or foster child named Soren Pedersen, age 7. Gjedske is 73 and is described as the "house father's mother." In the 1845 census above Herman is 54, Marie Kirstine is 48, both are born in Vindum placing Kirstine's birth year around 1797. Soren, the foster child, is 12 and his birthplace is Thorup parish, Viborg county. They also have a house boy living with them, Peder Christensen, age 8, born in Vindum.

1850 Vindum parish census, page 16. Herman is 59, Marie Kirstine is 53, and Soren Pedersen is 17. They are entry number 101 in Vindum bye.

1855 Vindum parish census, page 5. Herman is 64, Marie Kirstine is 61, Soren is 22 and unmarried. A second foster child is living with them named Anders Rasmussen, age 4, born in Vindum parish around 1851.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 155. Marie Kirstine Hansdatter, the last entry on the page, dies August 20, 1859 and is buried on August 28. She is the wife of Herman Sorensen Hvam and was 62 years old.

1860 Vindum parish census, page 13. Herman Sorensen Hvam is 68 and living in the home of Soren Pedersen Hvam, his foster child, age 28 and his wife Maren Madsen, age 18 from Vindum parish. Their entry is household #23.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 39. Herman Sorensen Hvam dies September 28, 1867 and is buried October 3. Soren Pedersen Hvam is listed in one of the columns. He was born in Vindum and a widow. He was 74 years old.
