Inger Christensdatter Family: Sister to Anders

1860 Skaeve Cenus, page 11.  I had given up on finding anything more about Inger but then stumbled across her family in the 1860 census.  Here she is listed with her husband Thomas Chr. Nielsen, age 38, Inger Christensdatter, age 35, Niels Chr. Thomsen, 8, Christian Thomsen, 3, and Thomas's mother Kirsten Pedersdatter, age 70 and a widow.  Inger is born in Horby, Thomas in Skaeve, Niels in Torslev, and Christian in Skaeve.  Kirsten, the widow, was also born in Skaeve.  The documents below are for her and her husbands family.

Birth, Skaeve parish register, page 138.  Niels Thomsen is born December 9, 1772 to Thomas Andersen and Johanne Madsdatter.  Niels is the father of Thomas Christian Nielsen who would marry Inger.

Birth, Skaeve parish register, page 36.  Kirsten Pedersdatter is born August 5, 1792 to Peder Christensen and Kirstern Christensdatter.  She is the future wife of Niels Thomsen and would marry him and be 20 years his junior.

Marriage, Skaeve parish register, page 112.  Second listed marriage in 1819 is Niels Thomsen and Kirsten Pedersdatter.  Niels was 46 and this was possibly his second marriage???  Kirsten is 26.  The date was February 27, 1819.

Birth, Skaeve parish register, page 13.  Thomas Nielsen is born June 10, 1819 to Niels and Kirsten.

Birth, Skaeve parish register, page 7.  Thomas Christian Nielsen is born to Niels and Kirsten on August 5, 1821.   Thomas will grow up and marry Inger.

Birth, Skaeve parish register, page 71.  Johanne Marie Nielsdatter is born March 21, 1824 to Niels and Kirsten.

Birth, Skaeve parish register, page 77.  Kirsten Marie Nielsdatter is born September 13, 1827 to Niels and Kirsten.  She is the last of the children that I've found in the registers.

Death, Skaeve parish register, page 233.  Niels Thomsen dies February 4, 1841 and is buried February 14.  He was 69 years old.

Marriage, Torslev parish register, page 7.  Thomas Christian Nielsen, age 30, and Inger Christensdatter, age 26 are married April 7?, 1852.  Christen Jensen of Mosenhuus is present (Inger's father).  Inger's birth has been documented in a prior post.

Death, Skaeve parish register, page 53.  Kirsten Marie dies March 18, 1855.  She was about two months old.

Birth, Skaeve parish register, page 90.  Kirsten Marie is born January 24, 1856 and is given the same name as her sister who preceded her in death.

Death, Skaeve parish register, page 54.  Kirsten Marie dies February 19, 1856, less than one month after she was born.

Birth, Skaeve parish register, page 47.  Christian Thomsen is born June 29, 1857.  He is listed on the 1860 Census in the first part of the post.

Birth, Skaeve parish register, page 9.  Jens Peter Thomsen is born July 7, 1860.

Birth, Skaeve parish register, page 16.  The last child I can find in the registers for Inger is Steffen Christian Thomsen, born December 26, 1862.

Christen Jensen Family; Inger and Marianne Christensdatter

1834 Horby Census, page 24.  Christen Jensen's family is the second from the bottom of the page in beautiful cursive.  They are family #6 in Hedekuset?.  Christen is 40.  Christiane Christensdatter is 37.  Niels, the second oldest is 12, Inger is 9, Christian is 7, and Else is 3.

1840 Horby Census, page 19.  Family #4 on the census.  Christen is 46, Christianne is 41, Niels is 18, Inger is 15, Christian is 12, Else is 7, Andreas is 6, Anders is 4, and Marianna is 1.

1845 Horby Census, page 25.  The only family on the page at "Mosenshuus."  Christen is 51, Christianne is 47, Else is 14, Andreas is 11, Anders is 9, Marianna is not listed, and Thomas is 3.  Christianne was born in Flade.

1850 Horby Census, page 21.  Again the family is listed at "Mosenshuus."  Christen is 56, Christianne is 52, Anders is 14, and Thomas is 8.  Christen was born in Horby.

1855 Horby Census, page 19.  The family is listed as #23.  Christen is 61, Christianne is 57, Thomas is 13.  There are two other people living with the family--Nicolena Rasmussdatter, age 24, and her daughter Rasmine Andersen, age 3.  I wonder if this is the wife and daughter of Anders???

1860 Horby Census, page 17.  Interesting census with Christen Jensen listed on the right page, fourth family from the bottom.  Christen is 66 and listed as married with a birthplace listed in Karrup.  Thomas is living with him and is 18.  Christianne is not listed and in our family records she died in 1865.

Confirmation, Horby parish registers, page 145.  Inger is the last entry on the page and the only way I could verify that it was her is that it lists her birthdate as March 31, 1825.  Her parents names are not legible.  I cannot find a death record or marriage record for Inger in the census through 1862 in Horby.  Inger is the third oldest child in the family.

Death, Horby parish register, page 246.  Marianne Christensen dies June 15, 1842 and is buried on June 19.  She is the daughter of Christen Jensen from Mosenshuus and was 2 1/2 years old.  No cause of death is listed.

Niels Christensen: 2nd oldest in Christen Jensen's family

Gerum 1845 Census, page 7.  Niels Christensen born in Karup parish is listed as a farm hand.  He is 23 years old.  This fits Niels who is the only one with that name born in that parish at that time.  I cannot find anymore information about him as the parish census documents have not been transcribed completely after 1850.  Perhaps he'll show up at the birth of a nephew or neice.

Jens Christensen: Oldest brother of Anders Christensen

Birth, Tolne parish register, page 41.  Karen Marie is born February 14, 1821 to Johannes Jensen and Maren Andersdatter.  She is the future wife of Jens Christensen.

Confirmation, Horby parish register, page 125.  Jens Christensen is confirmed in Horby parish in 1834. His father is Christen Jensen.  He was born July 31, 1819 in Torslev.

Marriage, Tolne parish register, page 97.  Jens Christensen, age 26 years, marries Karen Marie Johansdatter, age 24.  Witnesses were Jens Jensen of Hormestad parish and Anders Jensen of Bransh? on December 26, 1845.

Birth, Tolne parish register, page 55.  Maren Kirstine is born March 29, 1846 to Jens Christiansen and Karen Marie Johansdatter of Bremsholt?  Witnesses were Anders Jensen of Bremsholt, Ane Pedersdatter of ? and Mads Christian Christiansen.

Birth, Mygdal parish register, page 49.  Christine Jensdatter is born in December of 1847 (I can't make out the date but it looks like the 25th).  Parents were Jens Christiansen and Karen Marie Johansdatter.  Witnesses were ???.
1850 Ugilt parish census, page 3.  Jens Christensen is 32 (born in Torslev), Karen Marie is 30 (born in Tolne), Maren Kirstine is 4 (Born in Tolne), and Kirstine is 3 (born in Mygdal).

1855 Taars parish census, page 22.  Jens is 36, Karen Marie is 34, Maren Kirstine is 9, and Christine is 8.  Andreas Christensen, I assume Jens younger brother, is living with them.  I have searched the Ugilt, Mygdal and Taars parish registers for more children born to them.  Unfortunately I cannot find them in the 1860 census or beyond.  In new family search there are two other children:  Jens born in 1854 in Taars and Marinus born in 1863 (unknown location).  I cannot find either one of these in the parish registers.  Maren Kirstine dies in Arizona in St. Johns as does Marinus Christensen.  I did contact an individual named James Tanner in Mesa Arizona who pointed me to the blog of his daughter Amy at theancestorfiles.blogspot.com for all the correct documentation.  He told me that Jens born in 1854 is incorrect and that this person did not exist.  Marinus was likely adopted and was his great great grandfather (James Tanner's) and possibly an illegitimate child of one of the first two daughters but that is his speculation.

Christen Jensen and Christianne Christensdatter Family: Grandfather to Nicolena

Hjorring County Map.  This map details where Nicolena's family was from in Denmark.  This county is in the Northeast uppermost part of Jutland.

Birth, Horby parish register, page 33.  Christen is born to Jens Christensen and Inger Larsdatter in Wollen.  Our records indicate he was born May 18.  At the end of the paragraph it reads that he was introduced into the church June 7.  Christen would go on to marry Christianne Christensdatter from Flade parish.  Our records indicate the marriage date was 12/28/1817 but I cannot find this in the Flade register.
Birth, Torslev parish register, page 9.  Jens Christensen is born to Christen and Christianne in 1819 (I can't make out the date). Our records say July 31 but that was the day he was christened.

Birth, Karup parish register, page 4.  Niels is born August 10, 1822.

Birth, Horby parish register, page 61.  Inger Christensdatter is born March 31, 1825.

Birth, Horby parish register, page 27.  Christian Christensen is born January 23, 1828.
Birth, Horby parish register, page 70.  Else Christensdatter is born August 1, 1831.

Birth, Horby parish register, page 3.  Andreas Christensen is born March 1, 1834.  In new family search his records had been combined with his younger brother Anders so I attempted to set the record straight.

Birth, Horby parish register, page 9.  Anders Christian Christensen is born October 12, 1836.

Birth, Horby parish register, page 76.  Marianne Christensen is born December 21, 1839.

Birth, Horby parish register, page 18.  Thomas Christensen is born August 30, 1842.  The last of the brood.

Christine Jensen: Last child of Jens Rasmussen (Brother to Lars)

Confirmation, Sonder Rind parish register, page 66.  Christine Jensen was the last child of Jens Rasmussen.  Her birth record is documented in a prior post.  Her birthdate was May 19, 1863 in Sonder Rind Parish.  Her confirmation record is from Sonder Rind Parish and occurred in 1877.  She is the daughter of Jens Rasmussen of Rind.  Her birthdate is listed in the next column.

Marriage, Sonder Rind parish register, page 80.  Anders Christian Gregersen, age 23 of Kjellerup and Christine Jensen, age 23, of Rind are married November 30, 1886.  Witnesses were Jens Rasmussen of Rind and Christen Pedersen of Rind.  I cannot find any children born to them in the Rind parish register and I imagine they moved away from the parish.

Brigham City Cemetery

Brigham City cemetery, Utah.  On our way to Bismarck, North Dakota we stopped by the Brigham City cemetary and thanks to Uncle Bruce and his cemetary map, were able to find the graves of Lars and Gedska Nelson.  It was fantastic to see the names of the people who have sacrificed so much so that we might have the gospel in our lives.  I cannot wait to meet them and say thank you.  You'll notice that Christian was not as enamored with the experience as I was.  On a side note, we've moved from Phoenix to Bismarck, ND and I have not had access to the internet for several months until this week.  I can't wait to get back into my hobby...of course Dave Barry said that there is a very fine line between a "hobby" and "mental illness" (25 things I have learned in 50 years, Dave Barry).

Brigham City cemetery, Utah.  Further east in the cemetery is the plot for Charles Frederick Nelson and his wife Lena.  Charles was born in Denmark in 1852 (The headstone says 1853 but the records I have found show it is 1852) and came over with his father Laurs to America as a young boy about the age of 8 or 9 when they came over on the Monarch of the Sea in 1861.  I'm trying to get Andy to smile as he's so shy around cameras.  Christian has warmed up a little bit to the experience.

Ane Jensen, daughter of Jens Rasmussen

Birth, Thorning parish register, Lysgaard district, Viborg County, page 38.  Niels Johannes Berg is born July 25, 1855 to Morten Johansen Berg and Inger Kirstine Nielsdatter (age 35).  He is the future husband of Ane Jensen.

Birth, Sonder Rind parish register, page 31.  Mette Kathrine Johansen (illegitimate) is born May 20, 1875 to the unmarried Ane Jensen (27 years old), daughter of Jens Rasmussen of Rind.  Father is Niels Johansen of Hesth? village, Bording parish.  Witnesses are Rasine Jensen (sister) of Rind, Jens Rasmussen and several others.

Marriage, Sonder Rind parish register, page 76.  Niels Johannes Berg, age 23 of Rind marries Ane Jensen, age 31 of Rind.  Present are both father, Jens Rasmussen and Morten Johansen Berg of Datterup.  The date is November 15, 1878.

Birth, Sonder Rind parish register, page 11.  Morten Johansen Berg is born January 21, 1880.  Ane was 32 at the time.  Morten Johansen Berg is a witness as well as Ole Johansen Berg of Dollerup.  Christine Jensen, Ane's sister is also present.

1880 Census, Sonder Rind parish, page 17.  Niels Johannes Berg is 24, Ane is 32, Mette Kathrine Johansen is 4 and their is an unbaptized male (Morten).  Niels was born in Thorning parish, and all the others were born in Sonder Rind.  Niels was a farmer.  They are living with Jens Rasmussen (Ane's father).

Death, Sonder Rind parish register, page 102.  Ane Jensen passes away April 8, 1889 and is buried April 14.  She was only 41years old.  She was the wife of Niels Johansen Berg of Rind.  A cause of death is listed in the last column but I cannot decipher it.  I do not find the family in the 1890 census in Rind and do not know what happens to them.  I do not find anymore children born to them after Morten in the Sonder Rind parish register.  This document states that at the time they are currently living in Rind.
