Niels Rasmussen's daughter Dorthea Rasmine

Marriage, Hjorthede parish register, page 64. Dorthea Rasmine Nielsdatter is married to Martin Mikkelsen on June 29, 1882. A woman named Carolyn Kuroiwa emailed me about if her ancestor Martin had married my ancestor Dorthea Rasmine. Sure enough, this marriage record demonstrates that indeed they did. Martin is 25 years old and is living in Hjorthede. Dorthea Rasmine is 32 years old and is also living Hjorthede parish. The parents who are listed at being at the wedding are Mikkel Nielsen who I assume is Martin's father and Niels Rasmussen from Lille Torup. Niels was the brother of Lars who came to America in 1861. They were married in the church.

1880 Hjorthede census, page 7. Two years prior to getting married Dorthea is listed in the census at #14. She is 30 years old, unmarried, and is listed as being born within the Vester Velling parish in Lille Torup village. She is a house servant.

Death, Hjorthede parish register, page 91. Dorthea Rasmine is the last name on the page. She died November 15, 1886 and was buried November 22. Her husband Martin Mikkelsen was a small land holder. She was only 37 years old. I do not know the cause of her death. Martin is listed as a widow in the 1890 census. He later remarries a Kristine Mikkelsen who is 15 years his senior. Vester Velling, where Dorthea Rasmine was born was a neighboring parish to Hjorthede.
