Gedska's Mother: Maren Pedersdatter

Death, Vindum parish register, page 57. Maren Pedersdatter passes away on January 14, 1864. Her husband was Soren Hermansen. She was 92 years old. No cause of death is listed. I have hardly ever seen a 90 something year old in the death records. The details of her life are documented from her marriage in 1803 and beyond through the posts about her children. As stated earlier, I cannot find her birth records nor identify her in the 1787 or 1801 census. I know she was in Thorsoe in 1803 and that she was born in Sahl or Sall parish (or near them) between 1768-1778.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 189. Soren Hermansen born September 9, 1764 to Herman Jensen. Soren was 5th of 9 children born to Herman and his wife Anne Marie Christensdatter.

Marriage, Thorso parish, page 180. Soren Hermansen of Thorsoe marries Maren Pedersdatter of Thorsoe on June 10, 1803. Witnesses are Christen Hermansen of Gullev parish and Niels Hermansen of Vindum parish. There are no other people listed making me think that Maren's parents may have died by this time and she was without living siblings. I am having great difficulty finding Maren's birth records and her parents are not known to our family. In all the census's where she is living with her children her birthplaces are listed primarily as Sall parish, but Sahl parish is also listed once. Her birth year varies from 1769 to 1778 based upon the ages given to her in the census.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 140. Soren Hermansen dies on September 23, 1815 at the age of 51 years old. His wife Maren would go on and live until the age of around 92, passing away in 1864 while living with her daughter Maren Sorensdatter in Vindum parish. No cause of death is listed.

Herman Sorensen does have a child

Birth, Vor Frelser parish, Kobenhavn, Opslag 6. Soren Julius Herman Andersen is born Christmas day, 1840 to an unmarried Sidse Andersdatter. The father is listed as Herman Sorensen. I have searched every parish in Kobenhavn for the marriage of Herman and Sidse and have not been able to find it yet. Once the census has been completely placed online I'll think I'll have more luck. I found this child through new family search when I looked at the duplicates and noticed that Herman and Sidse had been added to the church records by extraction and had a child.
