Christen Knudsen Family

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 117. Christen Knudsen of Vindum and Kirsten Sorensdatter of Faarup announce their intention to marry March 2, 1727 and are married 16 p Trinit or September 28, 1727 in the church. We do not know Christen's parents names and the line ends with them. Kirstine Sorensdatter's parents were Soren Christensen and Dorthe Christensdatter and their deaths are October 22, 1705 and October 1720 in our records, but I cannot find those deaths recorded at that time in the parish register.

Birth/Christening, Vindum parish register, page 67. The top entry of the page shows that on 4 Adventis or December 21, 1727 Niels is christened.

Introduction, Vindum parish register, page 276. Christen Knudsen's son of Vindum is presented to the church January 25, 1728.

Introduction, Vindum parish register, page 277. On March 11, 1731, Christen and Kirsten's second child Anne is presented to the church. They are from Vindum. Anne's life is documented in a prior post, except for this document.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 83. Birgitte is christened 24p Trinit or November 16, 1738. She is the third child birth document I can find. There is another possible child listed in new family search with the name of Niels between Anne and Birgitte but I can find no birth record for a Niels during this time born to Christen Knudsen.

Introduction, Vindum parish register, page 283. On January 1, 1739, Birgitte is presented to the church. The family is in Vindum.

Confirmation, Vindum parish register, page 171. In 1745 Chresten Knudsens son Niels of Vindum is confirmed. His future brother in law Herman Jensen is also confirmed this year.

Confirmation, Vindum parish register, page 174. This record may be the reason why somebody has placed the third child of Christen named Niels in new family search. At the top of the page under 1753 Christen ? (looks kind of like Knudsen) son Niels from Faarup is confirmed. I don't think that this is correct in that I can't find a Niels that was born to Christen between 1731 and 1738 in Vindum, nor can I find them in the church introduction pages of the parish register. Furthermore, Chresten and Niels in this are listed as being from Faarup and Christen and family lived in Vindum.

Confirmation, Vindum parish register, page 175. Christen Knudsen's datter Birgitha is confirmed in 1756. They live in Vindum.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 237. Kirstine Sorensdatter, wife of Christen Knudsen of Vindum, passes away August 27, 1761. She was 61 years old placing her birth around 1700. This find agrees with the information I found on new family search.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 37. The fifth entry on the page is the death or burial of Christen Knudsen February 25, 1776. He was 91 years, 3 months, and 3 days old putting his birthday around November 22, 1684.

Jens Nielsen Family

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 112. Jens Nielsen and Maren Jensdatter both of Vindum are listed under the "1722." There are two entries. The first entry is May 3, 1722 and also lists the name of Jens Pedersen which I think would be Maren's father. This entry may be announcing their intention to marry. The next entry if for October 4, 1722 says that they were married in the church. As a note to this document and the other documents in these earlier parish registers---detailed entries are not the norm that give clues for links to other family members, places, etc that truly help to confirm the identity of the person. These documents I found have the same name and rough time of the current records in our family and on new family search.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 57. Laurids is christened 12 p Trin or August 15, 1723 in the church. His father is Jens Nielsen from Vindum. He is carried by Laurids ? wife?, Witnesses were Jens ? son Anders of Vindu, Laurids Larsen and Thomas ? ?.

Introduction, Vindum parish register, page 272. 16 p Trinit or September 12, 1723 the son of Jens Nielsen from Vindum is introduced. Herman's life has been documented in the prior post.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 215. Jens Nielsen of Vindum dies in 1731 on 10 p Trinit or July 29. He was 32 years old and 4 months, putting his birth in March or April of 1699. Unfortunately the first Vindum parish register begins in 1701. Unfortunately because I only have a name and age I can only guess that this is our ancestor as this agrees with the family records that we have. His father in our records is Niels Jensen Praest and mother is Catherine Hermansdatter.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 221. Maren Jensdatter, presumably the widow of Jens Nielsen, dies 24 p Trinit ? or November 8, 1739 at the age of 40 years. This agrees with what we have in our family records. Interestingly two entries above her is a Niels Jensen P?st of Vindum who dies at the age of 72 on 7 p trinit or July 12, 1739. Our records say that the father of Jens Nielsen was Niels Jensen Praest and his birth year was around 1667 putting his age at 72 if he died in 1739. I would assume that this is Jens father.

Confirmation, Vindum parish register, page 170. Lauritz Jensen is confirmed in 1742. Since his father passed away he is accompanied by Christen Sorensen. I don't know what the word is after Christen's name---something to show the translators in SLC. He is living in Faarup.

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 130. Laurids Jensen and Anne Andersdatter of Faarup are the first entry under 1749 and "announce" their engagement 10 p Trinitas or August 10. They are married in the church 20 p Trinit or October 19. There is a name before Anne's in both entries Soren ?. He must not be Anne's father as her last name would be Sorensdatter. Something else to show the translators in SLC.

Herman Jensen Family

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 66. Herman Jensen is born September 29 or 9?, 1727 to Jens Nielsen.
Birth, Vindum parish register, page 70. Ane is born or christened January 28, 1731 to Christen Knudsen. This find is consistent with what others have placed in new family search (unfortunately this person is combined with many other different Ane Christensdatters which are not correct). There are other Ane's born around this time to unmarried mothers but the date of her birth is conistent with the ages I find in future documents. Furthermore, she has a brother named Niels which Ane will use the name with one of her children.

Confirmation, Vindum parish register, page 171. Herman Jensen is confirmed in 1745, around the age of 17 or 18 years old. His father has passed away by this time and both him and his brother have another witness name in front of theirs (usually this is the father).

Confirmation, Vindum parish register, page 172. Ane is confirmed 1749. Her father is Christen Knudsen. The years around this confirmation do not show another Ane Christensdatter further strengthening the argument that the Ane born in 1731 is the future wife of Herman Jensen.

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 132. Herman Jensen marries Ane Christensdatter on 16 p Trinit or October 7, 1753. Both Herman and Ane are from Vindum.

1787 Vindum parish census, page 3. Herman Jensen's family is family #7 in Vindum bye. The transcribed version of this on the danish census website incorrectly reports the first name of Herman as Simon, which kept me from finding this for a long time. The age of Herman Jensen is 60, putting his birth around 1727. Ane is 56 putting her birth around 1731. They have two of their children living with them, Niels, who is unmarried and 29 (b 1758) , and Gedska, who is 20 (b 1767) and unmarried.

1801 Vindum parish register, page 10. Herman and Ane are 66 and 64 (incorrect ages) and living with their daughter Gedska and her husband Soren Hvam. This shows that Ane lived at least through 1801.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 188. This page shows that an Ane Christensdatter of Faarup dies January 6, 1811. Unfortunately no age is given and I cannot verify that this is truly the wife of Herman Jensen. I have looked through the parish registers after 1801 to 1827 and do not see another death for an Anne Christensdatter. I would have thought if this were her that they would have listed Herman Jensen as being her husband as they do in most other deaths of elderly women. Furthermore she is from Faarup which is not where Herman Jensen is from when he dies in 1814. I know she isn't a young girl because they would list the father's names in the death entry. I don't know why I put this in here now as all my arguments are against this record but it will document my search nonetheless.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 138. Herman Jensen dies January 2, 1814 and is buried January 9. He was a farmer from Vindum and was 86 years, 3 months placing the date of his birth around September of 1727.

Peder Hermansen

Vindum parish register, page 16. Peder Hermansen, Soren's 2nd to last sibling is born in 1771 only to pass away 15 days later.

Carl Christian Hermansen Family

Confirmation, Vindum parish register, page 86. Herman Jensen's son Carl of Vindum is confirmed in 1784. He was born approximately 15 years earlier in 1769 as has been documented in a prior post. He was Soren's Hermansen's youngest sibling who lived into adulthood. Carl is found in the 1787 census and is 19 years old. He is an unmarried farm hand (His name is spelled Carl Gjermansen by the transcribers). In the 1801 census he is next found in Serup parish in Holm Molle and is a "Mollersvend.?" He is 33 years old.

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 93. Carl Hermansen at the age of 54 marries Ellen Nielsdatter who is 38. According to the record this is the first marriage for both of them. They were engaged on February 15 and married April 10, 1824. Present at the marriage are Niels ?, and Herman Sorensen Hvam, Carls brother in law.

Birth, Hojbjerg parish register, page 34. Herman is born February 7, 1825 to Carl and Ellen of Tange.
Death, Hojbjerg parish register, page 179. Herman dies the same day he is born February 7, 1825 and is buried February 13.
Birth, Hojbjerg parish register, page 40. Herman is born August 16, 1826.

Birth, Hojbjerg parish register, page 43. Herman has a twin sister Maren, born August 16, 1826. This is the first set of twins I have found in our line.

Death, Hojbjerg parish register, page 181. Herman passes away September 4, 1826 after living only 18 days.

Death, Hojbjerg parish register, page 184. Maren also passes away on September 4, 1826 after living 18 days. What a tragedy for Carl and Ellen who have had their first three children die so soon after birth.

Birth, Hojbjerg parish register, page 54. Herman is born May 25, 1828. Present is a Maren Nicolaisdatter of Hedegaard who likely is from the family that married into our line. Also present is Anders Hvam of Bjerring.

1834 Hojbjerg parish census, page 10. Carl and family are family #2 in Tange Bye. He is 65 and Ellen is 44. Herman is 6.
1840 Hojbjerg parish census, page 13. Family #6 in Tange Bye is Carl, age 71, Ellin age 55, and Herman, who is 12.

Hojbjerg parish census, page 21. Carl's family is #7 in Tange bye. He is 76 and born in Vindum. Ellin is 60 and also born in Vindum. Herman is 17 and from Hojbjerg.

Death, Hojbjerg parish register, page 181. Ellin Nielsdatter dies January 12, 1848 and is buried January 21. She was 62 1/2 years old. She is the top entry.

Death, Hojbjerg parish register, page 173. Carl passes away one day later on January 13, 1848. He was 79 years old.

1850 Hinge census, page 14. Herman Carlsen, age 22 is now living in Hinge parish, is married to a Maren Jacobsdatter, age 21 and they have a one year old daughter named Ellen Kirstine Hermansdatter, born in Levring parish. Maren is from Hinge.

Peder Sorensen

Marriage, Sonder Vinge parish register, page 137. Peder Sorensen of Tharup, age 29 marries Magdalene Larsdatter, age 27 years of Tharup on January 12, 1833. Soren was confirmed in 1818. I found him going and leaving the Vindum parish at various times between then and his marriage date. The couple is entry #1 in 1833. The paragraph at the top of the page dated November 18, 1832 must be announcing their intention to marry each other. I can make our the name Peder Sorensen and Madalene Larsdatter of Thaarup.

Birth, Sonder Vinge parish register, page 40. Soren Pedersen is born to the couple several months after the marriage March 19, 1833. Witnesses include Laurtiz ? and others from Thaarup (Looking at current maps, this town is called Torup and eventually became it's own parish).

Arrival, Vindum parish register, page 145. Peder Sorensen, age 30, Magdalene Larsdatter, age 28, and Soren Pedersen, age 3/4 years arrive in Vindum October 5, 1833. The record documents that they are from Taarup.

1834 Vindum parish census, page 17. Family # 25 in Vindum Mark shows Peder Sorensen Hvam, age 30, and his wife Magdalene Lauritzdatter, age 28, and their son Soren Pedersen, age 1 living with Peder's brother Herman and his wife Marie Kirstine, as well as Peder and Herman's mother Gedske Hermansdatter, age 67.

Departure, Vindum parish register, page 205. Peder's stay in Vindum was short as this document shows their departure April 29, 1834. Peder is 30 1/2 years, Magdalene is 28 1/2. Interestingly Soren Pedersen their one year old son is not with them. They are going back to Thaarup.

Arrival, Sonder Vinge parish register, page 170. Peder and Magdalene arrive May 4th, 1834 in Torup after coming from Vindum parish.

Birth, Sonder Vinge parish register, page 43. Gedske Pedersdatter is born May 11, 1834---just a few days after Peder and Magdalene arrived back in Torup. I cannot make out any names of the witnesses.

Death, Sonder Vinge parish register, page 209. One year after the birth of his little Gedske, Peder passes away at the age of 32 On September 20, 1835. He is buried September 25. His wife Magdalene would go on to remarry and have other children as can be demonstrated in future census's in Sonder Vinge parish.

Vindum parish census 1845, page 15. This document shows that Soren Pederson, the only son of Peder and Magdalene stays and lives with Herman and Marie Kirstine throughout his life. In fact, after Marie Kirstine's death, Herman lives with Soren Pedersen and his wife, Maren Madsen (18 years old and born in Vindum parish in the 1860 Vindum parish census). He is 12 years old in this census with his birthplace listed as Thaarup. He is listed as a foster child in this 1845 census.
