1st child of Niels Rasmussen and Ane Marie: Ane Nielsen

Marriage, Vester Velling parish register, page 146.  Ane Nielsdatter of Lille Thorup, age 30 marries Jens Peder Nielsen of Thorup, age 41.  Jens Peder Nielsen had been married previously.  The date is January 23, 1875.  Witnesses are Laust Nielsen and Jens Sorensen of Arendt.  Two entries after the priest begins to put in the birthdays of the individuals.  As you'll see in the next few images, I'm confident this is our Ane Nielsen but darn it would have been nice to have her birthday there to prove it definitively.  I've searched the Vester Velling parish register around 1844 and there is one other Ane Nielsdatter born in 1845 but she was an Ane Kirstine.  The Ane in this marraige record is from Lille Thorup and in the 1870 census I know our Ane was still living in Lille Thorup with her parents.  

Birth, Sonder Vinge parish register, page 7.  Edvard Laurids Nielsen is born October 7, 1875 and christened December 26, 1875 in the church.  Ane was 31 1/2 years old and the couple was living in Sonder Vinge.  Witnesses included Mette Nielsdatter (Ane had a sister named Mette Andrea who I will discuss in a future post using the 1901 Vester Velling census, page 219) of Lille Thorup, Jens Nielsen of Oster Velling (Ane's brother was named Jens and I've found a Jens Nielsen in the Oster Velling 1880 census aged 34, born in Vester Velling parish, putting his birth year at 1846 which was the right birth year for her brother).  

 Birth, Sonder Vinge parish register, page 50.  Marie Sofie Nielsen is born November 18, 1876 and christened November 24.  No witnesses in the church are listed because Marie passes away prior to this event.

 Death, Sonder Vinge parish, page 145.  Marie Sofie dies February 20, 1877 and is buried February 25.    She was 3 months old.

  Birth, Sonder Vinge parish register, page 14.  Jens Christian Nielsen is born December 12, 1877.  Ane was 33 3/4 years old.  Witnesses included Dorthe Rasmine Nielsen of Lille Thorup (Ane's sister was Dorthe Rasmine).

 Birth, Sonder Vinge parish register, page 18.  Niels Peder Nielsen (the second entry) is born May 3, 1879 and christened June 29.  Ane was 35 at the time.  Witnesses included Birgitte Nielsen of Lille Thorup (Ane had a sister that was named Johanne Birgitte and went by Birgitte as I'll show in a future post in the 1901 Vester Velling census, page 288).

1880 Sonder Vinger parish census, page 15.  Last entries are Jens Peter, age 46, and Ane, age 35.  Jense Peter was a bricklayer.  He was born in Hjermine parish.  Ane was born in Sonder Vinge.  They are living in the town of Sonder Vinge.   

1880 Sonder Vinge parish census, page 16.  The children are listed at the top of the page.  Edvard Laurits Nielsen was 4, Niels Christian was 2, and Niels Peter was under one years old.  I cannot find the family after this.  They are not in the 1890 census and there are no more births for the family through 1891 in the register.  Their deaths are also not listed.  I'm hoping to find them at the nieces and nephews births listed in the witness column and the parish where she is from....so we're not done with this family...

Christiane Sorensdatter Birth: Wife of Ole Jensen

Birth, Aidt parish register, page 46.  Christiane Sorensen is born June 4, 1836 to father Soren Sorensen and mother Sidsel Kirstine Nielsdatter of Aidt.  Christiane would become Ole Jensen's wife.

Ole Jensen: Son of Mariane Pedersdatter and Jens Mikkelsen

Marriage, Hvorslev parish register, page 148.  Ole Jensen marries Christiane Sorensdatter October 9, 1865.  Ole was 29 (b. June 8, 1836 documented prior) and Christiane was also 29.  She was born in Aidt parish around 1836.    

 Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 91.  Jensine Jensen is born December 23, 1865 in Aldrup Mark.  Christiane was 29 1/2 years old.

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 51.  Soren Jensen is born February 17, 1869 in Aldrup Mark.  Christiane was 32 1/2 years old.

Stillborn, Hvorslev parish register, page 9.  Stillborn born to Ole and Christiane March 7, 1872 in Aldrup Mark.  Christiane was 36.     

Stillborn, Hvorslev parish register, page 14.  Another stillborn is born to Ole and Christiane on July 5, 1875 in Aldrup Mark.  Christiane was 39 years old.    

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 58.  Sidsel Kirstine Jensen is born December 7, 1877 to Ole and Christiane who was 41 1/2 years old at the time of the birth.  Jens Jensen and Peter Jensen of Amstrup are witnesses.  

Death, Hvorselv parish register, page 135.  Ole Jensen dies January 5, 1887 and is buried January 12.  He was a married farmer from Aldrup Mark whose father's name was Jens Mikkelsen.  He was 50 years old.  

Death, Hvorslev parish register, page 181.  Sidsel Kirstine Jensen passes away October 29, 1902 in Aldrup Mark and is buried November 4.  Interestingly she is one entry below Ane Sofie Jensen who was Jens Aagaards wife.  Sidsel was the daughter of farmer Ole Jensen and Kristiane Sorensen.  She was 24 years old.  No cause of death is listed.  

Death, Hvorslev parish register, page 185.  Kristiane Sorensdatter dies June 12, 1909 in Vidstrup, Hvorslev parish, Houlbjerg herred.  She is buried June 18, 1909.  She was the widow of Ole Jensen of Aldrup and the daughter of farmer Soren Sorensen and Sidsel Kirstine Nielsen of Aidt parish.  She was 73 years old.

The twins of Jens Jensen and Ane Sophie Jensen

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 57.  Twins Severine Kirstine Jensen and Rasmine Jensen are born July 2, 1877 to Jens Jensen and Ane Sofie Jensen of Amstrup.  Ane Sofie was 44 years old.  

Confirmation, Hvorslev parish register, page 113.  Severine Kirstine and Rasmine are confirmed October 4, 1891.  The girls are found in the 1880 and 1890 census with their parents.  Severine is living with her brother Anton and his family in the 1901 Hvorslev census.  She then lives with Jens Aagaard and his family in all the censuses until her death in 1936.  Rasmine is not found in the 1901 census with any family member but she is living with her brother Jens Aagaard in every census after until her death in 1928.  

Hvorslev parish register, page 199.  Rasmine Jensen passes away October 3, 1928 at the Sindssyge Anstalt in Viborg and is buried October 9, in Hvorslev.  As best I can tell Sindssyge means "lunatic" and "anstalt" means institution.  I do not know what mental illness she had but the record tells us she was an unmarried daughter of Jens Jensen and Ane Sofie Jense of Amstrup.  She was 51 years old.  

 Death, Hvorslev parish register, page 207.  Severine Kirstine passes away July 11, 1936.  I think she went by Kirstine as in one census that part of her name is underlined.  She is buried July 15.  The first words on the 1st column in the second page are "Aandssvag Pige" and Aandssvag means "stupid" and Pige means "girl."  She is the brother to Jens Jensen Aagaard and was the daughter of Jens Jensen and Ane Sophie Jensen of Amstrup.

Ane Marie Christine Jensen: Daughter of Jens Jensen

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 50. Ane Marie Christine is born March 22, 1872 in Amstrup. She is christened May 20 in the church. Ane Sofie was 39 years old.

Confirmation, Hvorslev parish register, page 110. Ane Marie Christine is confirmed 1886. This is the last I find of her. She is not listed as a witness at the birth's of any of her neices or nephews. I have looked through the entire death lists in Hvorslev through 1943 and have not found her death. When the census's become completely online it will be easier to search for her...but until then.

Death, Hvorslev parish register, page 161. Johan Vagner Jensen dies August 24, 1917 at the age of 16.

Death, Hvorslev parish register, page 181. Ane Sophie Jensen dies Septbmer 28, 1902 in Amstrup.

Birth, Gjerning parish census, page 155. Jensine Johanne Jensen is born to Jens and Christine December 31, 1891.

Death, Hvorslev parish register, page 175. Jensine dies June 22, 1892 at the age of 5 months. The record states she was born in Gjerning. Her next sibling would also be named Jensine Johanne.

Anton Jensen Family

Birth, Knebel parish register, Randers county, page 57. Ane Nielsen is born July 25, 1868 to Rasmus Peder Nielsen and Nielsine Jensen, age 25, of Lynge. She would become the wife of Anton Jensen.

Randers county parish map. Ane was born in Knebel which is in the south west part of the county in Mols District. Vistoft is the parish south of Knebel and where Anton and Ane would marry.

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 52. The #8 entry for 1869 is Anton Jensen born May 8, 1869. Christened June 20. Ane Sophie was 36 when he was born.

Birth, Vistoft parish register, page 9. Peter Arthur Jensen is born to the unmarried Ane Nielsen on January 14, 1896 in the village of Strands. The father is Anton Jensen.

Marriage, Vistoft parish register, Randers county, page 145. Anton Jensen marries Ane Nielsen April 4, 1896. He was 26 years old and she was 27 years old at the time. She is the daughter of Rasmus Pter Nielsen (Villum) and Nielsine Jensen and was born in Lynge July25, 1868.

Birth, Lejrskov parish register, Ribe county, page 42. Twins are born to Anton and Ane on January 10, 1898. Jens Holger Jensen is entry #1 and Sofus Harald Jensen is entry #2. They are born in Lejrskov. This record mentions that Anton and Ane are married April 4, 1896 in Vistoft. They are both christened April 11.

Parish Map, Ribe county. Lejrskov parish is located in the southeast corner in the Anst district. I don't know what took the family here but they did not stay here for long, moving to Hvorslev and living there for a good portion of their lives.

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 25. Martin Arnold Jensen is born April 27, 1899 in the town of Hvorslev. He is christened June 22, 1899. There is a Jens Johan Jensen (Anton's brother?) of Amstrup witnessing.

1901 Hvorslev parish census, page 223. Anton and Ane are living in Hvorslev. Living with them are children Peter Arthur, Jens Jolger, Sofus Harrald, Martin Arnold and Anton's sister Severine Kjerstine Jensen.

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 30. Johan Vagner Jensen is born September 6, 1901 in Hvorslev and christened October 27.

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 38. andreas Herlup Jensen is born Feburary 4, 1904 in Hvorslev. He is christened March 31. Jens Aagaard, Antons brother, is a witness.

1906 Hvorslev parish census, page 7. Anton and Ane are in Hvorslev. Living with them are their children Arthur, Holger, Harald, Arnold, Vagner, and Herluf. Also living with them is his niece Jensine Aagaard.

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 45. Anton Verner Jensen is born February 14, 1906 in Hvorslev and christened March 27.

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 54. Agner Halfdan Jensen is born January 3, 1909 in Hvorslev. He is the last child born to Anton and Ane. He is christened January 19. His neice Petrine Aagaard carries the child.

1911 Hvorslev parish census, page 19. Anton and Ane are in Hvorslev. Living with them are children: Arthur, Holger, Harald, Arnold, Vagner, Verner, Herluf, and Agner.

1916 Hvorslev parish census, page 18. Anton and Ane are in Hvorslev. Living with them are their children: Holger, Vagner, Herlup, Anton, and Agnus.

1921 Hvorslev parish census, page 22. Anton and Ane are in Hvorslev. Living with them are children: Herlup, Verner, and Agner.

1930 Hvorslev parish census, page 18. Anton and Ane are in Hvorslev. None of their children are in the household.

Death, Hvorslev parish register, page 188. Anton Jensen dies November 20, 1936. I believe the record states he died in Sondre parish, Viborg county and buried in Hvorslev on November 25. I have looked at all three parishes with Sonder in the title and do not find his death recorded in them. He was 67 years old. His wife is still living at the time of his death and I do not find her death recorded in the Hvorslev parish registers which end in 1943.

Another child for Jens Jensen Aagaard

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 13. Carl Ole Jensen is born March 22, 1895 to Jens Jensen and Christine Pedersen, age 29. He is christened June 9, 1895. He was born in Amstrup. I stumbled acrossed him looking for Anton Jensen's children. He was born before Carl Otto so I figured he died since there were two children of the same name, and sure enough below is his death record.

Death, Hvorslev parish register, page 163. Carl Ole dies June 16, 1895 in Amstrup. He is buried June 23, 1895. He was 3 months old.
