Soren's Younger Sister: Geadske Hermansdatter

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 194. Herman Jensen of Vindum has a daughter born in Vindum named Geadske. The year is 1767 and the date in our family records is March 3, 1767. Her entry however is listed after one that is dated May 3. Perhaps this is the christening record and not the recording of her birth. Regardless, she is the younger sister of Soren Hermansen, and Soren names one of his daughters Geadske who will marry Lars Rasmussen and come to the United States after joining the church.

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 103. Soren Andersen Hvam marries Geadske Hermansdatter in 1788 on September 15. Witnesses were Lars ? of Vindum and Christen Olefsen of Mammen. I cannot find Soren Andersen's birth documentation in the Vindum register. There are two Soren's born around 1764, one who has a father not named Anders and one who is illegitimate. Perhaps he is from Mammen?

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 104. This is a second record of their marriage found on the next page of the register. I am not sure if the first is an announcement of an engagement and this is the actual marriage. The date of this is October 25, 1788.

1801 Census, Vindum parish. Soren Hvam is 36, putting the year of his birth around 1775. Geadske is 33 and is listed as his wife. They have four children listed (though as I'll show in a later post they've had 7 children meaning three have died so far): Thomas is 12, Herman is 7, Anders is 6, and Chresten is 1. Geadske's parents Herman, age 66, and Ane, age 64, are living with them also.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 243. Soren Andersen Hvam passes away on May 22, 1829 and is buried on May 29, 1829. He was 64 1/2 years old. I think he is listed as a farmer from Vindum.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 258. Geadske lived 14 years after her husband died and lived with her son Herman and his wife Marie Kirstine Hansdatter in Vindum. She passes away March 17, 1843 and is buried on March 26. She is a widow of Soren Hvam and is listed as being born in Vindum in 1765 (it was actually 1767). She was 78 years old.

Laurids Hermansen; Sorens 4th brother

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 181. The fourth child of Soren Hermansen is born February 22, 1761, named Laurids. He was carried in the church by the wife of Laurids ?. I can discover no other information about him and do not see a confirmation record of him in the register between the years 1772-1781. I wonder if the family moved away during this time or the other possibility is he died young.

Ane Marie Nielsdatter's Great Grandparents

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 126. I'm so excited about this one because it's going back far and the records are pristine. This page has the engagement and marriage of Christen Pedersen Moller and Bodil Christensdatter on July 4, 1740. From these posts you can see names passed down through families. Bodil and Christen had a son, Peder who names his daughter Bodil and also names his sons Christen, and Peder.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 93. Christen Moller of Branstrup has a son named Peder on August 19, 1742. Many witnesses are listed.

Nicolai Andreasen's Mother

Death, Vindum parish register, page 159. I stumbled across this record while searching for Ane Marie Nielsdatters line. This is the death record for Karen Duelund of Hedegaard who was the wife to Andreas Pedersen. Her death is January 8, 1804. She was 65 years and 7 months.

Bodil Pedersdatter's Family: Mother of Anne Marie Nielsdatter

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 13. Peder Møller and Kierstine Sorensdatter of Faarup village are married on October 24, 1770 in the Vindum church. Witnesses were ? of Faarup and Herman Jensen of Vindum. Møller means "mill" in Danish.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 18. Peder Moller has a son on February 23, 1772 named Chresten. Witnesses at the church were Andreas Pedersen of Hedegaard, Anders Nielsen, Peder Overgaards and Lars Jensen's daughter Maren all of Faarup.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 33. Peder Moller has a second son on May 12, 1775 named Soren. He was carried by Lars Jensen's daughter Maren of Faarup. Other witnesses were Peder Krogsdal, Jens Krogsdal of Branstrup, Peder Knudsen of Faarup and ? Pedersen ? of Hojberg.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 49. Peder Moller's third son is born October 3 and is named Lars. Witnesses were Andreas Pedersen of Hedegaard, Lars Jensen, Soren Overgaard, Peder Knudsen and Anders Nielsen's ? all of Faarup.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 71. Peder Moller has a fourth son named Peder christened January 21, 1781. Witnesses are Anders Nielsen, Soren Larsen, Niels Vindum all of Faarup and Christen Hartvigsen's ? of Hojberg.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 84. Peder Moller finally gets a daughter on June 29, 1783 named Bodel. She was carried in the church by Christen Hartvigsens wife of Hojberg. Other witnesses were ? Overgaard, ?, Peder Knudsen and ? all of Faarup.

1787 Vindum parish census, Faarup village, page 7. Peder Christensen (he goes by Moller elsewhere) is 45 and a tenant farmer and something else. His wife is Christine Sorensdatter and she is 49. Children are Christen age 15, Soren age 12, Lars age 10, Peder age 6, and Bodil age 5.
1801 Census, Vindum parish register, Faarup village, page 6. Peder Moller is now widowed and is 59 years old. Christen is 30 and is unmarried and a soldier, Peder is 20 and is also unmarried, Bodel is 16 and is unmarried. Bodel is also found in the later censuses as shown in the prior post.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 164. Peder Moller dies January 3, 1805 at the age of 62 years and 9 months.

Ane Marie Nielsdatter's Father: Niels Pedersen Knudsen

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 139. Peder Knudsen and widow Maren Christensdatter are married January 8, 1767 in Vindum church.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 26. Niels is born to Peder Knudsen February 18, 1774. Witnesses were Jacob Mickelsen, Jorgen Christensen, Herman Andreas Pedersen of Hedegaard and Christen Vrou (?) of Vindum. Niels is the father of Ane Marie Nielsdatter who marries into the line of one of Gedska's brothers.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 53. Johanna Pedersdatter is born to Peder Knudsen of Faarup. Witnesses were Andreas Pedersen wife of Hedegaard, ?, Anders Nielsen and ?.

1787 Census, Vindum parish, Faarup, page 8. Peder Knudsen is 43 and a tenant farmer. Maren Christensdatter, his wife, is 49. They have two children and a house girl living with them. Niels who is 14, and Johanna who is 10.

1801 Vindum parish census, Faarup village, page 7. Peder Knudsen is 56 and Maren Christensdatter is 63. They have two children, Niels who is 27 and Johanna who is 23--both are unmarried.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 197. Peder Knudsen's wife Maren of Faarup passes away or is buried on September 20, 1812. She was 74 years old putting her birth around 1738.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 138. Peder Knudsen passes away March 31, 1813 and is buried April 7. This occurs only 6 months after his wife's passing. He was 67 years, 9 months, 1 week, and 4 days putting his birth approximately July 20, 1745.

Ane Marie Nielsdatter's Family: Herman Nielsen's Second Wife

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 26. Father Peder Knudsen has a baby boy, Niels on February 18, 1774. Witnesses were Jacob Nickelsen, Jorgen Christensen, Herman Andreas Pedersen of Hedegaard, and Christen ? of Vindum. In his life Niels would go by both Niels Pedersen or Niels Pedersen Knudsen.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 84. Peder Moller of Faarup village has a baby girl, Bodel, born 2p Trinit or June 29, 1783. In her death recording at the end of this post, she is said to have been born in 1783 in June or July. This was so helpful as there were three Bodels/Boels born around this time. Witnesses were Christen Hartvigsen of Hojberg, ? Overgaards, ? Knudsen and ? of Faarup.

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 168. Niels Pedersen and Bodil Pedersdatter, both of Faarup are married on October 25, 1806. Witnesses were Christen Moller (perhaps a brother of her father Peder Moller) and ? of Faarup.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 175. Niels Knudsen daughter Maren is born February 28, 1808. First child of Niels and Bodil.

Confirmation, Vindum parish register, page 76. Maren is confirmed in 1822. Her parents are listed as Niels Pedersen and Bodil Pedersdatter of Faarup. Her birthdate is listed as February 28, 1807 (I don't know why the years are different).

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 188. Kjerstine is born to Niels Knudsen January 30, 1811. She is listed on the bottom of the page.

Confirmation, Vindum parish registers, page 81. Kjerstine is confirmed in 1824. Her parents are correct but again her birthdate is listed as January 29, 1810---one year earlier than her recorded birthdate. Is there a question mark after 1810?

Stillborn, Vindum parish register, page 65. In 1815 there is an entry for Niels Pedersen and Bodil Pedersdatter for a stillborn girl. I cannot understand any of the details given.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 8. Peder Nielsen is born October 10, 1815. The parents are correct and the witnesses listed include Soren Sorensen wife Kjerstine, Anders ?, Jens ?, Christen Ostergaard, Peder Moller (Bodil's Father?) and two others.

Confirmation, vindum parish register, page 71. Peder Nielsen of Faarup is confirmed. His mother Bodil Pedersdatter is listed as a widow. He was born October 9, 1815. Finally the birth years match. The stillborn in 1815 was likely late 1814 or January 1815 which would have allowed enough time for Bodil to get pregnant and deliver Peder by October--10 months later.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 27. Ane Marie Nielsdatter who marries Herman Nielsen after his first wife dies, is born October 30, 1818 to Niels Pedersen and Bodil Pedersdatter. Peder Moller, Laust Moller of Faarup are listed as witnesses.

Confirmation, Vindum parish register, page 72. At the bottom of the page Ane Marie Nielsdatter of Faarup is listed. Her father is listed as Niels Pedersen Knudsen and mother Bodil Pedersdatter of Faarup. Her birthdate is listed correctly.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 32. Now this is confusing---Peder Nielsen is born April 8, 1821 to Niels Pedersen and Bodil Pedersdatter of Faarup. Witnesses were Laurs Moller, Peder Moller. Confusing because there was already a Peder (who lives) born into the family already.

Confirmation, Vindum parish register, page 81. Peder Nielsen of Faarup is confirmed in 1837. His father is Niels Pedersen (Knudsen) and mother is Bodild Pedersdatter of Faarup. His birthdate is listed correctly. The date is April 2.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 245. Niels Pedersen Knudsen dies May 11, 1830 and is buried May 20, 1830. He was a tenant farmer in Faarup and was 56 years old and 3 months.

1834 Vindum parish census, page 9. Bodil Pedersdatter is 50 and is widowed. She has three children still with her--both Peders, ages 19 and 13, and Ane Marie age 16. She is living in the home of her son in law Jens Bertelsen Faarup, 36 years. Jens has married Maren Nielsdatter, age 26. They have one child, Niels Jensen who is 1 years old.

1840 Vindum parish census, page 13. Bodil is 58 and living with her youngest son Peder, age 19. They are living with Jens and Maren who have two children now, Niels, age 7 and Ane Cathrine Jensen, age 4.

Death, Vindum parish register, page 252. At the bottom of the page Bodil Pedersdatter passes away on October 15, 1840 and is buried October 25. She is the wife of farmer Niels Pedersen Knudsen of Faarup. She was born in 1783 in Faarup. She was 57 years and 4 months old.

Nicolai Andreasen Family Part I

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 139. Anders Pedersen of Hedegaard marries Anne Kirstine Nielsdatter on March 20, 1766. There is another recording for January 4, 1766 which is an engagment I think? There is a word in front of her name which I think means widowed. I think she also had a son named Soren who I will discuss later in the post.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 193. A child is born to Andreas Pedersen on December 14, 1766. There is no name listed for the child but in the prior post, Andreas had a son pass away in 1771 that was four years old whose name was Nicolai. This must be him.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 8. Cathrine is born to Andreas Pedersen on August 13, 1769 (12p Trinit).
Confirmation, Vindum parish register, page 19. Andreas Pedersen of Hedegaard has a son confirmed in 1772 named Soren. My guess is that this really is our Andreas because there was only one that lived in Hedegaard and that Soren, likely age 12 or so, is the child of Anne Kirstine Nielsdatter from a previous marriage. Anne Kirstine died in 1771 at the age of 37. This means she married Andreas when she was 31, thus making it very possible for her to have been married before and to have had a child (Soren) at the age of 25 or so. It would be very difficult to prove this since the records hardly ever recorded the name of the woman, except for marriage records.

Nicolai Andreasen Family Part II

Marriage, Vindum parish register, page 17. The engagement (line 6) and marriage on November 29, 1771 are listed for Andreas Pedersen of Hedegaard and Karen Duelund of Vindum. Witnesses were Chresten Overgaard of Faarup and Herman Jensen of Vindum. The engagement lines state that Karen is from Vindumeregaard. Both witnesses names are listed in the engagement as well (note: I think this is an engagement record but I'll have to make sure with a translator). This was Andreas's second marriage.
Birth, Death, and Death, Vindum parish register, page 16. First wife of Andreas Pedersen, Anne Kjerstine of Hedegaard dies at the age of 37 years and 10 months June 6, 1771. The next lines in the record indicate the birth of a son to Andreas Pedersen named Peder who was born on the same day as her death. The child was carried by Jens Duelund's wife Maren of Vindum. Witnesses were Kristine? Jensen and Christen Overgaard, Herman Nielsen and Jens Nielsen. I can only surmise that Anne Kjerstine died from complications from childbirth of Peder thoughthat does not appear to be stated in the record. Towards the bottom of the page is the death of Andreas Pedersen's son Nicolai of Hedegaard at the age of 4 years, 8 months and 3 days. He died August 4, 1771 (10p Trinit). His birth then would be probably January 1, 1767.

Confirmation, Vindum parish register, page 105. Peder Andreasen of Hedegaard is confirmed in 1789.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 21. Nicolai (our ancestor) is born in the year 1772. I'm not sure what day as the feast calendar note is illegible. It is after a recording of 18p Trinit which would be October 10. I think it is in November as there is a word near the beginning "Nov" with a possible "1" before that. Many witnesses are listed but none appear to be immediate family.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 27. Anne Kirstine is born March 6, 1774 to Andreas Pedersen of Hedegaard. Witnesses were Soren Moller, Jens Dueleund of Brandstrup, Jens ? of ? and Anne Margreth ? of Vindumeregaard.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 38. Born, during the war of the American revolution, is Jens between March 25 and April 12. Jens Duelund, Niels Hansen of Vindum and Jens Duelund and Niels Poulsen of Brandstrup were witnesses.

Birth, Vindum parish register, page 48. Mette Dorthe is born 16p Trinit (September 14, 1777). She is the last child of Andreas and Karen. Witnesses were Soren Moller of Hojberg, Jens Duelund of Brandstrup and ? of Faarup. She is introduced int he church on 17p Trinit (September 21, 1777).
