Lars Rasmussen and Charles Frederick Nelson: United States Documents

United States Census 1870.  Lars's family is #38 on the list.  He is 55 and a farmer in Brigham City, Box Elder County, Utah.  Gedska is 55 and "keeps house".  Soren is 22 and a farm laborer.  Mary is 18, Charles is 17, Lucina is 15.

United States Census 1880.  Brigham City, Box Elder County.  Lars Rasmussen is 64 and Gedska is 65.  Lars is a farmer.  No children are living with them.

1880 United States Census, Brigham City, Box Elder County.  Charles Rasmussen is 25 and is married to Lena 21.  Charles is a laborer and Lena keeps house.  They have two children listed--one is a 3 year old daughter born in Utah named "Lanis?" (this is probably Lana) and a son Carl F, 1 years old.

1900 United States Census, Brigham City, Box Elder County.  Charles Nelson (C. F. Rasmusen) is 49.  Lena is 42 and has had 11 children but only 8 are living.  He is a mail carrier.  He emigrated to the United States in 1861 and she in 1865.  They have a son, Carlos--our direct ancestor, who is 21 and a barber.  The other children listed are Le Roi, age 18, Birdie, age 15, Le Von, age 13, and Alphonzo, age 10, Scott, age 8, and Percy, age 4.

1910 United States Census, Part 1.  Brigham City, Box Elder County.  Charles is 56, Lena is 52.  He is a gardener in his own garden.  Both are able to read and write.

1910 United States Census, Part 2.  Two children are living with Charles and Lena.  The first is Alfonzo, age 21, and Scott, age 18.  Both are salesman, Alphonzo at a furniture store and Scott at a grocery store.  Both are able to read and write.

Death Certificate, Charles Frederick Nelson.  Charles died of a suicidal self inflicted gun shot wound to the head on July 20, 1913.  He was survived by his wife.  From what I have read about him, apparently he had some psychological/neurological issues prior to his death.
