Rasmus Sorensen Family: Son of Soren Rasmussen.

Birth, Hjermind parish register, page 24. Anne Christensdatter is born March 21, 1847 to Christen Jensen and Anne Nielsdatter. I found Anne's birthday in the census and knew her birth parish was Hjermind. She is Rasmus Sorensen's future wife.

1860 Mammen census, page 10. Last family on the right page is Soren Rasmussen, age 45 and Marie Kirstine Sorensdatter, age 58. Rasmus's brother Jens is 11. I don't know where Rasmus is but does return home.

1870 Mammen parish census, page 14. Near the end of the page is Soren Rasmussen and family. He is 54 and Marie Kirstine is 67. Rasmus is 23, and unmarried.

Marriage, Mammen parish register, page 100. Entry #8, Saddlemaker and farmer, Rasmus Sorensen, age 32, from Mammne Vesterhede marries Ane Christensen, living in Mammen Vesterhede, age 31. This was a first marriage for them both. They are married December 3, 1878. Soren Rasmussen is a witness.

Birth, Mammen parish register, page 36. Ane Marie Kirstine Sorensen is born March 31, 1879 to Saddlemaker Rasmus Sorensen and Ane Christensen who was 31 years old.

1880 Mammen parish census, page 24. Rasmus is 33, Ane is 32, Anne Marie Kirsine is 1. Soren Rasmussen is 65 and Marie Kirstine is 77. Rasmus like his father is now listed in the census as a saddlemaker.

Birth, Mammen parish register, page 10. Entry #7 at the top of the page is Christen Sorensen born July 20, 1881 and christened October 30.

Birth, Mammen parish register, page 12. Soren Sorensen is born September 14, 1882 and christened October 27.

Birth, Mammen parish register, page 21. Born March 24, 1886 is Peder Christian Sorensen. He is christened in the church April 25.

Birth, Mammen parish register, page 60. Rasmine Annine Sorensen is born January 31, 1890 and christened April 4. Ane Christensdatter was 42. Rasmine would be her last child.

1890 Mammen parish census, page 33. Rasmus is 43, Ane is 42. Ane Marie is 10, Christen 8, Soren 7, Peder Christian 3, and a girl born January 31 is unnamed. Soren Rasmussen is 75 and a widow.

1901 Mammen parish census, page 117. Rasmus Sorensen born February 20, 1846, Ane born March 21, 1847. Peder and Rasmine are the only two children living with Rasmus and Ane. Soren is still alive with birthdate of February 8, 1815 in Hvorslev. Also living with the family is a Marie Elisabeth Andersen, born may 12, 1900.

Death, Mammen parish register, page 48. Death of Rasmus Sorensen, May 27, 1906, three years after his father passed away. He was buried June 1. He is entry # 5. He was a farmer and Saddlemaker in Mammen Vesterhede. He was 60 years old. I have not found Ane Christensdatter's death, but have searched the 1911 Mammen census without finding a family member. Also of note, Rasmus had a brother named Jens Sorensen who I have only been able to find in the 1880 Kobberup census. He was single, a 30 year old saddlemaker born in Mammen parish.

Soren Rasmussen and his Wife's death

Death, Mammen parish register, page 134. Marie Kirstine Sorensdatter, the wife of Soren Rasmussen, passes away on December 20, 1886 at the age of 84. She was buried December 26.

Death, Mammen parish register, page 161. Soren Rasmussen passes away March 27, 1903 in Mammen Vesterhede and is buried April 3. He was born in Hvorslev to Rasmus Sorensen and his wife Ellen Marie of Hvorslev. His wife, who preceded him in death, was Marie Kirstine Sorensdatter. He was 88 years old.

Hans Ulrik Rasmussen: Son of Rasmus Johansen

1845 Gullev parish census, page 20. This is the last I can find of Hans Ulrik Rasmussen. He is listed as being unmarried in the Gullev census of 1845. At this time he is 24 and living in the village of Bogeskov with family #50. He was a service boy. He is also found in the 1834 and 1840 Hvorslev census's as documented prior. I do find a Hans Ulrik Hansen in the 1850 Gullev census and I really believe that the last name is Hansen when looking at the actual document but the individual is the right age and born in Hvorslev. When I review the birth records from Hvorslev I cannot find a Hans Ulrik Hansen born around 1821. Interestingly Hans Ulrik's birth record does not contain a last name??? That all being said, I cannot find a death record or transfer record or marriage record for him after 1845 in the Gullev census.

The Birthe Kirstines of Rasmus Johansen

Death, Hvorslev parish register, page 133. Rasmus Johansen's daughter Birgitte Kirstine passes away February 10, 1823 and is buried February 16. She is entry #2 under 1823. She was four years old.

Death, Hvorslev parish register, page 135. Birgitte Kirstine born two years prior passes away on September 16, 1829 and is buried September 20. Rasmus Johansen had passed away earlier this year and her stepfather Soren Olesen is listed in the entry. She is the last one on the page.

Johan Rasmussen: Second child of Rasmus Johansen

Death, Gullev parish register, page 174. Johan Rasmussen passes away on June 2, 1849. He never married. I found him in the 1834 census in Vellev living with a family as a service boy. He was 16 years old. In the 1840 census he was in Hvorslev and was a service boy, 23 years old. In the 1845 Gullev census he is a blacksmith apprentice in Bogeskov which is the same town that his mother lived in with his stepfather. She died around this same time as well.

Soren Ramsussen: First child of Rasmus Johansen

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 7. Soren Rasmussen is born February 8, 1815. He was the first child born to Rasmus Johansen and Ellen Marie Pedersdatter and was born out of wedlock. Of note he is the only Soren Rasmussen born in Hvorslev five years previous or after.

Birth, Lee parish register, page 16. Inger Jensdatter is born to Jens Nielsen and...no name is written for the mother. She was born February 27, 1825 and christened March 2, 1825. I mention this record becuase the mother is Marie Kirstine Sorensdatter as shown by later census's. Marie Kirstine Sorensdatter eventually marries Soren Rasmussen after her husband Jens Nielsen passes away in 1844. I have not found the marriage record of Marie Kirstine and Jens Nielsen but have looked in the Lee, Mammen, and Bjerring registers.

1834 Bjerring parish census, page 3. Jens Nielsen Rytter is 42 (b. 1792), his wife Marie Kirstine Sorensdatter is 32 (b. 1802). They have a 13 year old foster child, Maren Nielsdatter, and one child Inger Jensdatter, age 9. In other census's I have found her and her birthplace is Lee parish.

1840 Bjerring parish census, page 10. Jens is 48, Marie Kirstine is 39, and Inger is 15.

Birth, Bjerring parish register, page 73. Birthe Marie Jensdatter is born April 18, 1843. Jens and Marie Kirstine did not have many children or surviving children. This was the last born to them and would precede Jen's death by 1 year.

Death, Bjerring parish register, page 234. Jens Nielsen Rytter dies April 7, 1844 and is buried April 15. A cause of death is listed but I do not know what it says. He was 52 years old.

Marriage, Mammen parish register, page 174. Soren Rasmussen, age 29, marries the widow Marie Kirstine Sorensdatter of Mammen parish, age 42, on December 3, 1844.

1845 Mammen parish census, page 16. Family #75 in the census is Soren Rasmussen, age 30, and his wife Marie Kirstine Sorensdatter, age 43. They have one child living with them, Birth Marie Jensdatter, age 2 born in Bjerring parish. Soren's birthplace is Hvorslev and he is a weaver. Marie Kirstine was born in Mammen parish. I can find no other link to Soren and the family he was born into throughout his records, but as I stated before, there is only one Soren Rasmussen born in Hvorslev from 1810-1820 and his family were all weavers.

Birth, Mammen parish register, page 121. Rasmus Sorensen is born February 20, 1846. Marie Kirstine was 44 years old at the time.

Birth, Mammen parish register, page 8. Jens Sorensen is born January 31, 1850 and is the last child born to Soren and Marie Kirstine who was 48 years old. Jens was christened April 14. Witnesses were Inger Jensdatter from Darstrup (this is Marie Kirstine's first child).

1850 Mammen parish census, page 2. Soren is 35, Marie Kirstine is 48, Birth Marie Jensdatter is 7, Rasmus is 4, and Jens is 1. I cannot find the death records for Soren or Marie Kirstine after this.

Soren Olesen's family

Marriage, Gjerning parish register, page 136. Soren Olesen marries Ane Andersdatter March 10, 1848 after Ellen Marie Sorensdatter passes away. Soren was 47 1/2 and Ane was 31. The birth of their first child in 1848 is documented in a prior post.

Birth, Gullev parish register, page 58. Elisabeth Sorensdatter is born September 25, 1850. She was christened in the church November 10.

Birth, Gullev parish register, page 61. Ane Kathrine is born July 29, 1853.

Birth, Gullev parish register, page 16. Ole Peter Sorensen is born June 3, 1856. He was christened August 3.

Birth, Gullev parish register, page 24. Andreas Sorensen is born Mar 27, 1860. He is the last child of Soren and Ane who was 43 years old at the time of his birth.

Peder Jensen: Son of Jens Johansen

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 14. Ane Christiansdatter was born September 24, 1819 to Christian Jensen and Maren Jensdatter of Hvorslev. She was christened in the church October 31. Interestingly the entry below is for Birgitte Kirstine Rasmusdatter, the daughter of Rasmus Nielsen and Ane Johansdatter and a sister to Lars Rasmussen who joined the church and came to America.
Marriage, Hvorslev parish register, page 143. Entry #4 in year 1852, Peder Jensen, 25 1/2 years old of Hvorslev marries Ane Christiansdatter, age 33 of Hagenstrup Molle. Witnesses were Mads Jensen and Christian Jensen. Date was November 12, 1852.

Birth, Hvorslev parish register, page 75. Mariane Pedersen, the name of Peder's mother, is born February 11, 1853 and christened March 19. Birgitte Jensdatter, Peder's grandma is one of the witnesses.

1880 Hvorslev parish census, page 21. Family #6 in Hvorslev is P. Jensen, age 52, Ane Jensen, age 60, Marie Pedersen is 23. Living with them is a 3 year old foster child, Hans Petersen.

1890 Hvorslev parish census, page 30. Peder Jensen is 62, Ane Christiansdatter is 70, Jens Christian is unmarried and 27.

Death, Hvorslev parish register, page 149. Ane Christiansdatter passes away March 19, 1890 and is buried on March 26. She was the wife of farmer Peder Jensen and was 70 years old.
Death, Hvorslev parish register, page 165. Peder Jensen dies July 2, 1898 and is buried July 7, 1898. He was widowed at the time of his death and the son of Jens Johansen and Mariane Pedersdatter. He was 71 years old.
