Christen Jensen and Christianne Christensdatter Family: Grandfather to Nicolena

Hjorring County Map.  This map details where Nicolena's family was from in Denmark.  This county is in the Northeast uppermost part of Jutland.  

Birth, Horby parish register, page 33.  Christen is born to Jens Christensen and Inger Larsdatter in Wollen.  Our records indicate he was born May 18.  At the end of the paragraph it reads that he was introduced into the church June 7.  Christen would go on to marry Christianne Christensdatter from Flade parish.  Our records indicate the marriage date was 12/28/1817 but I cannot find this in the Flade register.  

Birth, Torslev parish register, page 9.  Jens Christensen is born to Christen and Christianne in 1819 (I can't make out the date). Our records say July 31 but that was the day he was christened.  

  Birth, Karup parish register, page 4.  Niels is born August 10, 1822.  

Birth, Horby parish register, page 61.  Inger Christensdatter is born March 31, 1825.  

Birth, Horby parish register, page 27.  Christian Christensen is born January 23, 1828.  

Birth, Horby parish register, page 70.  Else Christensdatter is born August 1, 1831.  

Birth, Horby parish register, page 3.  Andreas Christensen is born March 1, 1834.  In new family search his records had been combined with his younger brother Anders so I attempted to set the record straight.  

Birth, Horby parish register, page 9.  Anders Christian Christensen is born October 12, 1836.  

 Birth, Horby parish register, page 76.  Marianne Christensen is born December 21, 1839.

Birth, Horby parish register, page 18.  Thomas Christensen is born August 30, 1842.  The last of the brood.

Christine Jensen: Last child of Jens Rasmussen (Brother to Lars)

 Confirmation, Sonder Rind parish register, page 66.  Christine Jensen was the last child of Jens Rasmussen.  Her birth record is documented in a prior post.  Her birthdate was May 19, 1863 in Sonder Rind Parish.  Her confirmation record is from Sonder Rind Parish and occurred in 1877.  She is the daughter of Jens Rasmussen of Rind.  Her birthdate is listed in the next column.

Marriage, Sonder Rind parish register, page 80.  Anders Christian Gregersen, age 23 of Kjellerup and Christine Jensen, age 23, of Rind are married November 30, 1886.  Witnesses were Jens Rasmussen of Rind and Christen Pedersen of Rind.  I cannot find any children born to them in the Rind parish register and I imagine they moved away from the parish.

Brigham City Cemetery

Brigham City cemetery, Utah.  On our way to Bismarck, North Dakota we stopped by the Brigham City cemetary and thanks to Uncle Bruce and his cemetary map, were able to find the graves of Lars and Gedska Nelson.  It was fantastic to see the names of the people who have sacrificed so much so that we might have the gospel in our lives.  I cannot wait to meet them and say thank you.  You'll notice that Christian was not as enamored with the experience as I was.  On a side note, we've moved from Phoenix to Bismarck, ND and I have not had access to the internet for several months until this week.  I can't wait to get back into my hobby...of course Dave Barry said that there is a very fine line between a "hobby" and "mental illness" (25 things I have learned in 50 years, Dave Barry). 

Brigham City cemetery, Utah.  Further east in the cemetery is the plot for Charles Frederick Nelson and his wife Lena.  Charles was born in Denmark in 1852 (The headstone says 1853 but the records I have found show it is 1852) and came over with his father Laurs to America as a young boy about the age of 8 or 9 when they came over on the Monarch of the Sea in 1861.  I'm trying to get Andy to smile as he's so shy around cameras.  Christian has warmed up a little bit to the experience.  

Ane Jensen, daughter of Jens Rasmussen

Birth, Thorning parish register, Lysgaard district, Viborg County, page 38.  Niels Johannes Berg is born July 25, 1855 to Morten Johansen Berg and Inger Kirstine Nielsdatter (age 35).  He is the future husband of Ane Jensen.     

Birth, Sonder Rind parish register, page 31.  Mette Kathrine Johansen (illegitimate) is born May 20, 1875 to the unmarried Ane Jensen (27 years old), daughter of Jens Rasmussen of Rind.  Father is Niels Johansen of Hesth? village, Bording parish.  Witnesses are Rasine Jensen (sister) of Rind, Jens Rasmussen and several others.  

Marriage, Sonder Rind parish register, page 76.  Niels Johannes Berg, age 23 of Rind marries Ane Jensen, age 31 of Rind.  Present are both father, Jens Rasmussen and Morten Johansen Berg of Datterup.  The date is November 15, 1878.  

Birth, Sonder Rind parish register, page 11.  Morten Johansen Berg is born January 21, 1880.  Ane was 32 at the time.  Morten Johansen Berg is a witness as well as Ole Johansen Berg of Dollerup.  Christine Jensen, Ane's sister is also present.  

1880 Census, Sonder Rind parish, page 17.  Niels Johannes Berg is 24, Ane is 32, Mette Kathrine Johansen is 4 and their is an unbaptized male (Morten).  Niels was born in Thorning parish, and all the others were born in Sonder Rind.  Niels was a farmer.  They are living with Jens Rasmussen (Ane's father).  

Death, Sonder Rind parish register, page 102.  Ane Jensen passes away April 8, 1889 and is buried April 14.  She was only 41years old.  She was the wife of Niels Johansen Berg of Rind.  A cause of death is listed in the last column but I cannot decipher it.  I do not find the family in the 1890 census in Rind and do not know what happens to them.  I do not find anymore children born to them after Morten in the Sonder Rind parish register.  This document states that at the time they are currently living in Rind.  

Mette Kathrine Nielsen Family: Grandaughter of Niels Rasmussen

Birth, Kvorning parish register, page 32.  Peder Hansen Busch, the future husband of Mette Kathrine Nielsen is born October 3, 1876 to Hans Jorgen Busch and Ane Kirstine Pedersen (age 33) of Aarup.  There are several Busch family members in Lille Torup, a brother and sister who have families at the same time as Mette Kathrine and Peder.  Mette Kathrine's birth document is in a prior post (Mette Andrea Nielsdatter: Part 2; May 5, 2012).  

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 29.  The last entry on the page is for Simon Peter Hansen Busch born August 6, 1903 in Terp in Vester Velling parish.  His unmarried mother is Mette Cathrine Nielsen, age 23 of Terp and the father is Peder Hansen Busch of Lille Torup.  Niels Gregersen of Lille Torup, the husband of Johanne Birgitte Nielsdatter (preceding post) is present.  

Marriage, Vester Velling parish register, page 190.  Peder Hansen Busch (no prior marriage) of Lille Torup, born in Kvorning October 3, 1876, son of "Bolsmand" Hans Jorgen Busch and his wife Ane Kirstine Pedersen of Lille Torup marries the maiden Mette Cathrine Nielsen of Terp, born in Terp June 28, 1880, daughter of "Hoker" Simon Nielsen and his wife Mette Andrea Nielsen.  The date is December 9, 1903.  

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 32.  Hans Jorgen Hansen Busch is born November 2, 1904 in Terp.  Mette is 24 years old.  Present are Peter Hansen Busch's parents Hans Jorgen Busch and Ane Kirstine Pedersen of Lille Torup, his brother Jens Hansen Busch of Lille Torup and unmarried Niels Peter Nielsen of Vester Velling and unmarried Anton Nielsen of Krog.    

Death, Vester Velling parish register, page 222.  Hans Jorgen Hansen Busch dies August 25, 1905 in Terp.  He is buried in Vester Velling August 30, 1905.  He was 10 months old.

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 93.  Hansine Kirstine Hansen Busch is born August 2, 1906 in Terp.  Mette is 26 years old.  The entry says the infant died and no witnesses are listed.

Death, Vester Velling parish register, page 252.  Hansine Kirstine Hansen Busch dies August 7, 1906 in Terp and is buried in Vester Velling August 11, 1906.  She was 5 days old.

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 44.  Hans Jorgen Busch is born March 3, 1908 in Terp.  Mette is 27.  Hansine Busch and Jens Hansen Busch are present from Lille Torup.  Anton Nielsen of Terp is also present.

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 104.  Anna Dorthea Busch is born November 13, 1910 in Terp.  Mette is 30.  Anna Marie Nielsen of Krog is present.  The unmarried Ane Margrethe Nielsen, Jens Hansen Busch, Niels Peter Nielsen, and Anton Nielsen of Terp are present.

1911 Vester Velling parish census, page 12.  Peder Buch (10/3/1876) was a laborer and farmer, Katrine Buch (6/28/1880), Simon (8/6/1903--it says 1906), Hans (3/3/1908), Anne (11/13/1910).  

 

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 112.  Nielsine Busch is born December 10, 1913 in Terp.  Mette is 33.  Present are Ane Marie Nielsen of Krog, Niels Peter Nielsen of Terp, Jens Hansen Busch of Lille Torup.    

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 5.  Michael Alfred Busch is born August 22, 1915 in Lille Torup.  Mette is 35.  Present Notables are Jens Busch's wife, Niels Peter Nielsen of Terp and Hans Busch of Lille Torup.

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 65.  Petra Kathrine Busch is born March 19, 1918 in Lille Torup.  Mette is 37.  Jens Hansen Busch of Lille Torup, Niels Peter Nielsen of Lille Torup are present.

1921 Vester Velling parish census, page 30.  Peder Hansen, Mette Kathrine, Simon Peter Hansen, Anne Dorthea, Nielsine, Michael Alfred, and Petra Kathrine are listed.  Michael and Petra were born in Lille Torup while the others were born in Terp.

 1925 Vester Velling parish census, page 8.  The last family on the page is the Busch family.  Peter Hansen, Mette Katrine, Anne Dorthea, Nielsine, Michael Alfred, and Petra Katrine are listed.

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 82.  Elly Margite Busch is born May 27, 1927 in Lille Torup. Mette was 46.  Present are the maiden Ane Margrethe Nielsen of Terp, maiden Anna Dorthea Busch of Lille Torup, and the unmarried Hans Jorgen Busch of Lille Torup.

 1930 Vester Velling parish census, page 51.  Peter, Mette Hans, Anna, Michael, Petra and Elly are listed.  Hans has been working/living in Hjermind, Anna in Bjerrig? and Michael in Vester Velling.

Niels Gregersen Pedersen: Husband of Johanne Birgitte Nielsdatter

 Death, Sankt Mortens parish register, page 114.  I noticed in the death record in the Vester Velling parish register that Niels Gregersen Pedersen had died in Morten's parish.  I found that record in Sankt Mortens parish register in Randers county.  This death record states that entry #144 is Niels's death record on August 17, 1912 at Sct. Josephs Hospital and that he was buried in the Vester Velling parish church on August 21, 1912.  He was a mason at Lille Torup.  He was the son of "Tomrer" Peter Nielsen and wife Kirsten Marie.  He was married to Birgitte and the last common residence was Lille Torup.  He was 47 years old.

Picture, St. Josephs hospital, circa 1910.  I found this postcard on a website of the hospital in Randers county where Niels died.  It was founded by Catholic nuns in 1907 and I believe continues to be a hospital to this day.  I do not know his cause of death.

Johanne Birgitte: Last child of Niels Rassmussen and Ane Marie Jensdatter

 1880 Vester Velling parish census, page 39.  Johanne Birgitte Nielsen is listed living with her parents Niels Rasmussen and Ane Marie Jensdatter in Lille Thorup.  They are the first family listed in the document.  Niels was born in Hvorslev and is 58.  Ane Marie born in Vinge and is 59.  Johanne Birgitte is 17 and born in Lil Thorup.  Johanne Birgitte's birth has been documented in a prior post.  She was born September 29, 1862 (Niels and Ane Marie's 6th child; March 17, 2011).

 1890 Vester Velling census, page 44.  Johanne Birgitte is the 6 entry from the top of the page.  She is single and living with her widowed mother Ane Marie Jensen who is 69 years old.  Johanne is listed as a "Weaver" which I've noticed was a common thing for many of this line of ancestors to do.   They are living in Lille Torup.

Marriage, Vester Velling parish register, page 89.  Niels Gregersen Pedersen (no prior marriage) of Lilletorup from Rystrup, Sonderbaek parish born May 23, 1865 marries the maiden Johanne Birgitte Nielsen of Lilletorup born September 29, 1862.  Present were Simon Nielsen of Terp, Jens Christian Pedersen of Lille Torup.  They are married March 11, 1890 in the church.

Birth, Sonderbaek parish register, page 19.  Niels Gregersen Pedersen is born May 23, 1865.  His parents are Peder Nielsen and Kirsten Marie (Maren?) Nielsdatter of Reistrup.

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 49.  Kirsten Marie Pedersen is born July 31, 1890 to Niels Gregersen and Johanne Birgitte Nielsen (28 years old) of Lille Torup.  Present were Jens Nielsen's wife of Hjermind, Jens Kirstian Pedersen of Lille Torup, "Hoker" Simon Peder Nielsen of Terp and Henrik Madsen of Lilletorup.

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 61.  Nielsine Pedersen is born August 10, 1892 in Lilletorup.  Johanne Birgitte was 29.  Present are "Hoker" Simon Peder Nielsen's wife Mette Andrea Nielsen of Terp, and Murer Jens Kirstian Pedersen's wife Dorthe Marie Jensen, farmer Jens Peder Nielsen, unmarried man Henrik Madsen and unmarried man Niels Peder Nielsen of Lilletorup.

Birth, Vester Velling parish, page 66.  Ane Marie Pedersen is born in Lille Torup August 6, 1894.  Johanne Birgitte is 31.  Present are Jens Nielsen's wife Ane Nielsen of Hjermind, farmer Jens Sorensen Arendts wife Dorth Marie Freriksen of Lille Torup, farmer and "Hoker" Simon Peder Nielsen of Terp, farmer Soren Laursen and farmer and "Murer" Jens Kirstian Pedersen of Lille Torup.

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 13.  Peder Lauring Pedersen is born February 27, 1896 in Lille Torup.  Johanne Birgitte was 33.  Present were the maiden Kristine Torup, farmer Soren Laursens wife Mariane Sorensen, farmer Hans Busch, farmer Jens Kristian Pedersen, farmer Jens Peder Nielsen, all of Lille Torup.

Death, Vester Velling parish register, page 194.  Peder Lauring Pedersen dies March 25, 1923 in Lille Torup.  He is buried March 31.  He was not married and was a "Murer" or Mason in Lille Torup.  He was born in Lille Torup February 27, 1896 to farmer and mason Niels Gregersen Pedersen and wife Johanne Birgitte Nielsen of Lille Torup.  He was 27 years old.

 Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 20.  Marius Martinus Pedersen is born August 13, 1899 in Lille Torup.  Johanne Birgitte is 36 years old.  Present notables are Simon Nielsen of Terp and Jens Peter Nielsen of Lille Torup.

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 80.  Anna Pedersen is born January 18, 1901 in Lille Torup. Johanne Birgitte is 37.  Present notables are Mette Cathrine Nielsen of Terp, "Murerne" (Masons) Jens Peter Nielsen, Jens Christian Pedersen and Soren Nielsen.

 1901 Vester Velling parish census, page 288.  Niels Gregersen (5/23/1865), Birgitte Nielsen (9/29/1862) (This also shows she went by Birgitte).  Kirsten Marie (7/30/1890), Nielsine Pedersen (8/10/1892), Ane Marie (8/6/1894), Peder Lauring/Louring? 2/27/1896), Marius Martin (8/13/1899), and girl (1/18/1901).  The family is living in Lille Torup.  

 Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 28.  Peder Pedersen (the second one on the page) is born November 21, 1902.  Johanne Birgitte was 40.  Present at the christening were Simon Nielsen of Terp, and Jens Peter Nielsen of Lille Torup--both brother in laws.

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 90.  Nete Birgitte Pedersen is born May 18, 1905 (I'm not sure about her name whether it is Nete, Nele or something else).  Johanne Birgitte was 42.  Hans Busch, Johanne Birgitte's brother in law was there, from Lille Torup.

 1906, Vester Velling parish census, page 19.  Those present in the census are Niels Gregersen, Johanne Birgitte, Kirsten Marie, Nielsine, Ane Marie, Peter Louring (name crossed out), Martin, Anna, Peter, and Nete? Birgitte.

Birth, Vester Velling parish register, page 96.  Jette Anine Pedersen is born February 9, 1907 in Lille Torup.  Johanne Birgitte was 44.  "Boslejer" Jens Nielsen's wife Ane Nielsen of Hjermind, "Hoker" Simon Nielsen's wife Mette Nielsen of Terp are present.

Confirmation, Vester Velling parish register, page 135.  Jette Anine Pedersen of Lille Torup is confirmed April 3, 1921.  I looked for this document to confirm her name which I had not seen before in my documentation.

 1911 Vester Velling parish register, page 19.  This would be Niels Gregersen's last census as he passes away in the next year.  His family in Lille Torup is the last on the page.  Also listed are Birgitte, Kirsten Marie, Ane, Peter, Nete Birgitte (I think it is Nete), and Anine.

Death, Vester Velling parish register, page 230.  Niels Gregersen Pedersen dies August 17, 1912 in Mortens parish, Randers county but is buried August 21, 1912 in Vester Velling.  I do not know what he was doing in Mortens parish at the time but he was only 47 years of age.  He was a farmer and mason in Lille Torup, born in Rystrup, son of "Arbejdomand" Peder Louring and Kirsten Marie Pedersen.  He was married to Johanne Birgitte Nielsen of Lille Torup (last common residence).

 1916 Vester Velling parish census, page 51.  The second family listed is Johanne Birgitte Nielsen and family.  Also present are Kirsten Marie, Peder (2/27/1896), Ane, and Anine.

 1921 Vester Velling parish census, page 29.  Family #8 in Lille Torup is Johanne Birgitte, Kirsten Marie, Peder Louring, and Jette Anine.

 Death, Vester Velling parish register, page 229.  The last death entry in the parish register, in the last parish register posted online is for Johanne Birgitte Nielsen who dies February 4, 1935 in Sonder Vinge village and parish in Middelsom district.  She is buried in the Vester Velling parish cemetery on February 9, 1935.  She is a widow in Sonder Vinge, born September 29, 1862 in Lille Torup.  Daughter of farmer Niels Rasmussen and Ane Marie Jensdatter of Lille Torup.  Widow of farmer and mason Niels Gregersen Pedersen of Lille Torup who died August 17, 1912 in Mortens parish.  Last common residence was Lille Torup.
